Black is the new Black

Anyone who knows me would say I wear too much black. I don’t disagree entirely, but I wouldn’t say that it’s necessarily “too much”. Too much dessert makes you fat, too much alcohol makes you sloppy, too much of many good thing are bad- but too much black? That’s just ridiculous.

In an attempt to ward off the “all you wear is black” chatter I’ve recently purchased some “colorful” wardrobe items.  Some expensive silk tops, a few dresses, you can’t say you don’t like something until you try it right?  Well two months into warm weather and one pink dress worn, most of my “color” just sits in my closet. While it all looks nice and diversified hanging there, it will probably never actually be going onto this body and out the door. What can I say; I’m such a rebel. I think too much black is fantastic.

Save the color for my nails. Black makes me feel chic, thinner, ultra sexy and most importantly…. thinner. Purple, orange or pink will never be the new black. Black is reliable, consistent and never disappoints. Black is my new boyfriend. Black is the new black.

My newest favorite black top has an easy poncho like fit and can be worn off the shoulders. Simple, Sexy and $46 bucks! LOVE.  www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayProduct.jsp?product=JESX-WS1&c=James+%26+Joy

Getting Nailed: Your Best Fall Accessory

For as long as I can remember my nails were part of an important maintenance regime.  A few years ago a client, who thought I was a fashion genius for some reason, came to me freaking out about “Chanel Black Satin” nail polish. It was sold out everywhere and never coming back. It was in every fashion magazine. It was THE color to have. She was freaking out. She was freaking me out. I never even knew I wanted it until she couldn’t get it. Black nails were the hottest thing and Chanel was making it happen. NO other black, not Essie or Opi or Dior NOBODY could replicate Chanel Black Satin.  I could bore you with the entire story but I'll just skip to the end, eventually Chanel re-released Black Satin, I tried it and loved it and I have been OBSESSED with their nail polish ever since. It’s all I wear. I have converted many into true Chanel nail polish devotees and undoubtedly I will convert some of you.  It is absolutely worth the $25 price tag.  Repeat after me, it is absolutely worth…ok, I think you get the point.

Check out this GORGEOUS brand new limited edition Chanel shade from their Fall 2011 Collection “Graphite”. It’s an ultra shimmery metallic color with what I call “micro glitter” loaded into it. The first coat went on light and dull but the second coat created perfection.  Scoop this up. Now. It will sell out. And you will freak out. Your nails will be your best accessory this season.

*ps if you want a fun summer color that’s very wear now, try “Mimosa” it’s a beautiful sunshine yellow that goes perfectly with a tan!
